DM Automation for Instagram moves from Perch to Nest

Hootsuite is moving DM Automations, the tool that automatically replies to comments on your scheduled Instagram posts and reels with a direct message, from Perch into Nest. There, it joins Nest's broader hub for engagement automations, giving you one home for this kind of setup.

Previously, engagement admin settings were spread across different product areas, making it harder to manage every automation task for your org in one place, and cluttering Perch's sidebar with settings unrelated to daily planning. Now you get a single, consolidated space in Nest to configure every engagement automation, while Perch's Planner still shows you exactly where a post's DM automation stands, without extra clicks.

How it Works

Setting up or checking a DM automation is simple: it all starts right where you're already working, in Planner. From there, you can see automation status at a glance or jump directly into Nest to manage the details.

• Check status at a glance: Understand a scheduled Instagram post's automation status, keyword, and DMs sent without leaving Planner.

• Edit in one click: Select the edit icon on the automation row to jump straight into Nest's editor for that post.

• Create where you plan: Use the "Create DM automation" action on an eligible post to start a new automation without hunting through settings.

• Finish setup in Nest: Complete or fine-tune the automation itself in Nest's engagement automation hub.
