Parallel Approvals is a new option within Hootsuite's Approvals workflow. Instead of every tier waiting for the one before it, Super Admins can configure a chain so all tiers are notified for review at the same time.

Multi-tier approval chains have always run in sequence, meaning each tier had to fully complete before the next was even notified. For large, multi-region organizations, that adds up to days of pure waiting on every post, regardless of how quickly any single approver responds. With Parallel Approvals, every configured tier gets notified as soon as a post is submitted, so approvals can happen concurrently instead of in a relay, without changing which tiers are required to sign off.

How it Works

Turning on Parallel Approvals is simple: a Super Admin opens the approval chain settings for a social account and switches tier progression from Sequential to Parallel. This lets every tier in that chain move through review at the same time instead of one after another.

Submit for review: Submit a post and every configured tier, including guest approvers, is notified immediately.
Approve independently: Each tier approves or rejects on its own schedule, and Approval History logs each timestamp as it happens.
Publish once complete: Your post publishes once every tier has approved; a single rejection returns it to the author and clears prior approvals for resubmission.

This lets your governance teams move as fast as their fastest reviewer, not their slowest one, so multi-tier approval stops costing you the publishing window.
